P&R Trucking, Inc., has provided Intermodal
trucking services since 1983. We are uniquely qualified
to provide excellent service including same day and
weekend pick ups and deliveries whenever possible.
Typical Service Process
Customer calls our office for a price quote for import
or export service. P&R provides a free price quote
based on distance to the loading or unloading point,
special services required like weight tickets, loading/unloading
time estimate, insurance coverage for the value of
the commodity, etc.
Customer and P&R agree to the pricing structure.
Once a price has been agreed to, the Customers calls,
e-mails or faxes to us booking or container information
for the terminal and shipping lines contracted for
the ocean shipping component. Customer also submits
their request for a service schedule.
P&R takes over the service request by verifying
all information is consistent with the shipping lines
so there will be no expensive delays getting the equipment
in or out of the terminal. If there are any problems
with the service information P&R notifies the
customer before a truck is dispatched saving everyone
from unnecessary expense. When all information is
verified the dispatch is radioed to one of our trucks
who enter the terminal to collect the import or export
load. If requested the container is weighed before
it leaves the Port facilities.
The driver/truck proceeds with the container to the
point of load/off load. At this time the driver will
verify all shipping documents with the customer location.
This includes a bill of lading provided by the shipper
and a hand tag provided by the driver which identifies
the shipper, the steam ship lines, booking information,
commodity trucked, arrival time, departure time, and
any other relevant information requested by the shipper.
The driver will exit the customer location, weigh
the load again if needed and return the container
to the appropriate terminal where a proof of delivery
document is generated.
Upon completion of the service the driver turns in
all the paperwork to our office and an invoice for
service is generate with all the back up documents
identified above or as required by the customer.
Service is now completed to the satisfaction of all
parties.
